1.
Deep within the continent,
Like organs in the bodys flesh,
Are towns where life is easy -
To be good-natured, speechless,
What more is there to say?
The houses are white, the neighbors clear,
And its so comfortable just living.
Forests surround them, and within them are bears,
Not deer. And the sheriff
Is reliable, almost everyone knows him.
They dont expect anything, they dont need prospects,
They neither love poems nor songs.
2.
Whether its Chicago or New York,
They pile up like mountains.
A district where mingling with scoundrels
Is more valuable to them – it
Will hardly evoke enthusiasm. Such powerful
Cities are built. The park turns blue in winter – something
I will never forget.
I have seen the bluish Hudson,
A bridge like a sharp string.
Although I am not a leader in this life,
This distance is interesting to me...
3.
University towns, neat and orderly,
Red brick of old buildings.
Unfortunately, it rarely happens that
Expectations are confirmed.
Or the palm trees of California have grown so much
That you cant see them – its wild.
How much does a strawberry cost in Los Angeles?
The sky is always blue.
If its Las Vegas, then its to gamble.
Advertising flows like blood, ochre,
Gold, silver. You cant imagine a crows caw here -
Its easy to imagine a pillow soaked
With tears.
And they rarely drink milk here.
4.
A forest where any film
Can be shot – a forest-industry.
What will the climate be like?
Different from Russia.
A palace is lowered from the sky,
And next to it, a rocket
Is launched – also a fantasy.
The scale will scare you.
A forest where films are shot...

The artist employs a vibrant palette dominated by warm tones – ochres, siennas, and burnt oranges – which contribute to an overall feeling of intensity and spiritual significance. These colors are layered with cooler hues of violet and blue, creating visual complexity and suggesting underlying emotional currents. The brushwork is loose and expressive, particularly evident in the rendering of his elaborate headdress. Here we see a cascade of feathers, meticulously detailed yet rendered with a fluidity that suggests movement and vitality.
The man’s attire further reinforces cultural identity. A braided hairstyle, adorned with what appears to be red ribbon or paint, falls alongside an intricately beaded necklace. The beads themselves are arranged in geometric patterns, hinting at symbolic meaning within the culture represented. A cuff on his upper arm is also visible, suggesting a ceremonial or status-related significance.
The lighting is dramatic, highlighting the planes of his face and creating strong contrasts between light and shadow. This technique accentuates the man’s features – the sharp angle of his jawline, the intensity in his eye, and the subtle lines etched around his mouth – implying a life marked by experience and perhaps hardship.
Subtly, there is an element of melancholy present. The downward gaze and muted expression suggest a burden carried or a contemplation of something profound. It’s possible that the work intends to portray not just physical appearance but also the spiritual weight borne by individuals within this cultural context – a sense of responsibility towards tradition, community, or ancestral knowledge. The overall effect is one of dignified resilience and quiet strength.
