маловероятно, что автор называл картину "курильщик", вероятнее всего название было менее благозвучным.
Совершенно типичная обстановка и жизнь людей такого типа.

To the right of the seated figure, another individual is depicted partially obscured by shadow. This person appears to be tending to the wall, possibly adjusting or repairing it. He wears a simple, earth-toned garment, contrasting with the more elaborate clothing of the smoker. The gesture – reaching upwards – suggests a task requiring effort and attention. A coat hangs on the wall behind him, adding another layer of detail to the interior.
The artist has paid close attention to the materiality of objects within the scene. A terracotta jug sits near the seated man’s feet, its surface rendered with careful observation of light and shadow. A small stool stands nearby, seemingly used for convenience. Scattered on the floor are remnants of tobacco or other materials, contributing to a sense of lived-in authenticity.
The paintings subtexts revolve around themes of domesticity, leisure, and perhaps even social commentary. The contrast between the relaxed smoker and the worker tending to the wall hints at differing roles within society – one enjoying the fruits of labor, the other engaged in its maintenance. The inclusion of everyday objects elevates them to a level of significance, suggesting that beauty and meaning can be found in the mundane aspects of life. The subdued lighting and limited color palette contribute to an atmosphere of intimacy and quiet contemplation, inviting viewers to observe the subtle nuances of human interaction and the details of daily existence.
