On August 25, the Museum of the International Numismatic Club opens the exhibition "Animals on Coins".
The general radio partner of the exhibition is Business FM radio station.
The exposition will feature about 200 coins, ranging from the earliest proto-money to the modern issues of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
Coins depicting animals are one of the most fascinating and educational topics of collecting and one of the most popular among collectors around the world.
Man has depicted animals since ancient times. The very first coins were the equivalent of the value of a particular beast, but already in ancient Greece, animals become the emblems of tribes, cities and entire states. Thus, tuna is depicted on the coins of the ancient Greek city of Cyzicus, and an owl is depicted on the coins of Athens.
The tours are designed in an interactive format. Thanks to augmented reality, media book and video mapping, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the amazing world of fantastic animals from the legends of Ancient Greece and Rome. And find out where Pegasus came from, what the griffins are guarding and where the centaurs live?
Visitors will get acquainted with medieval Russian coins and the oldest symbol of supreme power - the eagle, which our country inherited from the Roman Empire and Byzantium.
The history of Russia from the disunity of the Russian principalities to the strengthening of the centralized tsarist power will be told in a new way, through the well-preserved witnesses of that time - coins.
