For the fourth year in a row, the traveling exhibition project “Picturesque Russia” presents a professional study of painting as an undeniably unique form of art, occupying a special position in the modern art world, mainly characterized by the categories of “art”: art scene, art practice, art criticism.

For many centuries Her Majesty Painting changed its appearance, mastered new subjects and angles, was the face of revolutionary manifestos. The domestic fine tradition incorporates global experience, its own foundations, and the capabilities of new tools and materials. In 2019, the “PAINT RUSSIA” project explores the most striking plastic trends, phenomena and schools, such as “severe style”, the Leningrad school of painting, abstraction, the unique formation of the “Little Georgian”, the traditions of the “big picture”, the open air and others phenomena.

5 CURATORS: Leonid Bazhanov, Sergey Gavrilyachenko, Vitaliy Patsyukov, Konstantin Petrov, Anna Florkovskaya present these different lines of the functioning of painting, in accordance with their own curatorial vision, diachronically: each of the sections contains both the names of the masters, founding fathers, and bright followers and young apologists.

The exhibition includes works by Zurab Tsereteli, Sergey and Alexei Tkachev, Tair Salakhov, Geliy Korzhev, Viktor Ivanov, Andrei Mylnikov, Mikhail Abakumov, as well as Anatoly Lyubavin, Viktor Kalinin, Nikolai Kolupaev, Gennady Serov, Natalia Testina, Vladimir Nasedkin and other artists unique recognizable copyright style.

Continuing the tradition of traveling exhibitions in the 21st century, “PAINT RUSSIA” from the end of August to the end of December 2019 will be held in four cities of the country: Moscow (Z. Tsereteli Gallery), Stavropol (Stavropol Regional Museum of Fine Arts), Kirov (Vyatka Art Museum named after V.M. And A.M. Vasnetsovs), Saransk (Mordovian Republican Museum of Fine Arts named after S.D. Erzi).
