From November 12 to 17, 2018, the final exhibition of the Picturesque Russia Interregional Traveling Exhibition Project will be held in the exhibition hall of the Moscow Union of Artists.
The project was organized by the Wizart Foundation, the Creative Union of Russian Artists and the Russian Academy of Arts with financial support from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, as well as with the participation of the Moscow Union of Artists, Moscow State Art and Industrial Academy named after S. G. Stroganova.
“Picturesque Russia” is an educational research project aimed at the study and popularization of contemporary Russian painting, carried out since 2016. The selection of project participants and their work was carried out by an expert commission of highly professional artists, art historians, and specialists in contemporary art from the second half of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries. The permanent leader of the project is the First Vice-President of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, member of the Russian Academy of Arts Romashko Evgeny Viktorovich.
The exposition will include paintings that reflect the trends of Russian fine art over 30 years of its development: from 1989 to 2018. The concept of the exhibition is built according to six curatorial points of view: Leonid Bazhanov, Tatyana Kochemasova, Alexander Rozhin, Sergey Gavrilyachenko, Anna Florkovskaya, Vera Lagutenkova. Each of the curators formed a group of artists, who, in their opinion, are the most prominent representatives of various areas of modern easel realistic painting. In a single art space will be presented works of easel painting by experienced artists of the older generation and the energetic work of young authors. These are the works of 12 national and 9 honored artists of Russia, members of the Russian Academy of Arts (14 - academicians of the Russian Academy of Arts, five - corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Arts), teachers of leading Russian art schools in Moscow and St. Petersburg and their former students, talented young artists.
