The Georgian painter Zaur Tskhadaya has been painting female nature for more than half a century, during this time he has accumulated an impressive number of personal exhibitions in Russia and abroad, and in his works critics note a special attitude towards women and a unique skill of transferring the plasticity of the person portrayed.
The artist was born in the Georgian seaside town of Poti in 1940. Back in the 70s, he became a member of the Union of Artists, and in 1992 made a fatal trip to St. Petersburg for paints: Zaur remained in the northern capital and to this day works here in his workshop.
His paintings are unique for the author’s reverent attitude towards women. Each of his models (and here the role of artistic instinct is indisputable) acquires the fragile and inspirational status of a Muse. Sometimes he paints his granddaughters (by the way, Zaur has seven of them), often students or acquaintances appear on his canvases, but the following unites them: all the artist’s characters (and Zaur Tskhadaya is largely about pure beauty) become alien, acquire a symbolic status residents of the fragrant provinces of the southern sea. This tone, deeply distinctive in nature and innate for Zaur Tskhadayi, endows all his works with a special temperament and outlook on the world.
