The theme of the new, 21st, “ART OF MOSCOW” is “Co-Being”. The exhibition will tell about the interaction of works of art and objects from different periods and contexts, presented in one place at one time, and will show art as an important space for dialogue and a unique form of community, built on the coincidence of values ​​and meanings that are different from each other.

More than 40 galleries and institutions of contemporary art and design, 60 antique galleries, 15 museums of modern and classical art, and more than 30 jewelry brands will participate in the fair. The geography of Russian fair participants is not only Moscow, but also St. Petersburg, Irkutsk, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod.

Premieres of “ART OF MOSCOW 2024”

Particular attention of ART OF MOSCOW 2024 will be focused on art in private collections.

At the exhibition “Collector’s Choice. 1960s”, the outstanding collector and art critic Valery Aleksandrovich Dudakov will show a cross-section of his collection. “Acquaintance with the artists of the sixties, many of whom became my friends, although they were 15-20 years older, allowed me not only to quite quickly enter modern artistic life, but also to participate in the so-called “art apartments.” Currently, about 100 works of nonconformists are located in my private gallery “Disobedient”. I very rarely exhibit this collection, but this time I made an exception,” says Valery Alexandrovich. For “ART OF MOSCOW” he selected from his extensive collection reference works by Dmitry Krasnopevtsev, Oscar Rabin, Vladimir Nemukhin, Nikolai Vechtomov, Boris Sveshnikov, Vladimir Weisberg, Mikhail Shvartsman and Hulot Sooster.

2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the International Confederation of Collectors, Antique Dealers and Art Dealers. The organization unites the largest, oldest and most competent art galleries operating in the antiques market. In honor of the anniversary of the MKKAAD, as part of the special project “ART OF MOSCOW”, it will show pearls of Russian and Western European art from personal collections of collectors.

The Moscow Club "Livre d’artiste" and personally Boris Mikhailovich Fridman, a collector of rare books and works of art, will present previously unexhibited publications by contemporary artists Leonid Tishkov, Sergei Shutov, Ekaterina Smirnova and Yuri Vashchenko in the Livre d’artiste genre. This is a symbiosis of graphic and book art, books that are created, first of all, for viewing. Every detail is important: the choice of printing technique, design, paper quality and its shade. The text of livre d’artiste editions is secondary, the main thing is the artist’s vision of the book. The circulation of each of the four editions is only 40 copies.

For the first time at the fair, a section of circulation graphics will be presented. We can say that this is the easiest way to enter collecting. The curator of the exhibition is graffiti artist, organizer of the “Taste of Paper” print market Elchin Alizadeh.

The exhibition “Material” will allow us to consider this primary element of works of art as a tool that helps the artist express his idea, move from impulse through the creative process to the final result. Each material has its own characteristics and properties that allow it to be unique. Works of art begin with the stroke of a pencil, with the first underpainting, with the dissolution of plaster in water, or with the first stitch on fabric.

Curator Jianging Tan (China) will present the project “Land of Suspended Animation”: Rethinking reality in video art. Young Chinese artists use video art - a suspended reality, where the stability of space and time collapses, and reality is questioned and filled with imagination, as an environment that gives birth to possibility and shapes being. They immerse the viewer in a fantastic space, psychedelic dreams and their personal stories unfolding in the landscape of video art.

“ART MOSCOW” and the State Institute of Art Studies will study the trends of the world art market in the 21st century and present a joint research project “Context” about the most current galleries, fairs, auctions, and will touch upon philosophical and ethical aspects.

Especially for those who this spring dream of wandering around their favorite city and being inspired by art, ART MOSCOW, together with 15 metropolitan museum institutions, will compile a guide to exhibitions and events taking place in the city during the fair.

ART MOSCOW has always been not only a fair, but also a platform for intellectual discoveries, a discussion club, and a strategy laboratory with bright ideas and large-scale projects.
