In the Pushkin Museum to them. A.S. Pushkin March 31, 2019 for the seventh time will be the action "I will show you a museum." On this day, more than 100 senior pupils and students - students of the Club of Young Art Critics - will take the places of guides, administrators, and also act as historical characters: rulers, artists, and creators of the museum. Visitors will take a fresh look at the famous exhibits, see the museum as it has not yet been seen.
The theme of the Я I will show you a museum ’action in 2019 is Музей The Museum as a Place for Discussion’. Students at KUI offer a special format for talking about art - debate. Visitors will be able to express their opinion on pressing issues of art: should art be understandable? Is it mandatory for an artist to be able to draw? Is the fame of the impressionists deserved? On behalf of historical characters from different eras, students at the CJI will speak in discussions.
In addition, excursions, short lectures, quests and performances will be held in the three buildings of the museum. During excursions and lectures, visitors will be able to find out why people in the paintings laugh, or even find themselves in the workshop of a Dutch artist, and during performances - to revive the sculpture, forcing it to move and speak. In addition, everyone will be able to receive from the administrators quests for the museum’s exposition, developed by the participants specifically for the event.
The Museyon Center for Aesthetic Education will host two exhibitions and one performance - the results of research projects, whose participants from the beginning of the school year, under the guidance of a curator, studied the art of calligraphy, urbanism and theater.
A special program has been prepared for children. The youngest visitors will learn how to navigate the museum, learn about costumes of different countries and eras, get acquainted with the heroes of ancient Greek myths and legends, and design their own museum in a game format. They will be able to do all this with their parents as well as independently, under the guidance of students at the CJI.
Music will be played all day in the museum - participants will compose playlists from works of the corresponding eras for visitors to thematic rooms. Several times a day, visitors will be able to hear the performance of the KUI choir.
For adult visitors, the action “I will show you a museum” is an opportunity to see a familiar museum in a new way, for high school students and students - to look at art through the eyes of their peers, for children - to remember their first visit to the museum.
CLUB OF YOUNG ART SCIENCES (CUC) AT THE Pushkin Museum im. A.S. PUSHKINA
The Club of Young Art Critics (CJI) was established in 1960. KUI unites students of grades 8–11 and junior students. Over almost 60 years of the Club’s work, more than 5,000 people have become its graduates. Now about 400 people are involved in the Club of Young Art Critics. High school students and students study the history of Western European art at lectures in the classroom and at seminars in the halls of the museum, go to exhibitions and workshops of artists, stage performances and go on trips around Russian cities. Students of the Kyiv Law School take an active part in the life of the museum: they contribute to the annual events “Museum Night” and “Night of the Arts”, “Draw Together” and “Take Pictures Together”; carry out excursions on the museum’s birthday. In preparation for the action "I will show you a museum", which will be held in the Pushkin Museum. A.S. Pushkin for the seventh time, 130 students of the CJI are busy.
Event program
Main building
11:00 - 19:00. Guided tours
By pre-registration
KYuShniki invite you to talk about art! They have chosen topics that interest them, and hope that they will be of interest to you as well. How are art and economics related? Did those who admired her understand antiquity? What hurt the artists and their models? The museum’s collection will help you find the answers to these questions.
Performance "Word"
By pre-registration
What could museum exhibits tell if they had the ability to speak? We invite you to reflect on this topic with participants in a literary performance. And the creator of the museum, Ivan Vladimirovich Tsvetaev, will help us.
Performance "Movement"
By pre-registration
In this performance, words recede into the background, the main thing is movement. We will go through the halls of the museum and try to better understand the works from the permanent exhibition, exploring the work of the authors with movement and rhythm. This, of course, will be accompanied by music.
Debate
Why is art so different? Is it possible to become an artist if you have not studied this? We invite you to discuss these and other issues with historical characters of different eras - the ancient Egyptian architect, Charlemagne, Jane Austen, Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol and many others. Perhaps we can finally understand what makes art an art.
Everyone will be able to join the debate and try on the role of some famous historical person. We have developed special cards describing the characters so that participants can better get used to the image and substantiate their position on the pressing problems of the art world.
For children
For the youngest visitors (from 5 years old) we came up with special excursions and quests (information about them in the relevant sections).
Besides:
- - An interactive tour-game will be held in the halls of the art of the Ancient World. We will tell the participants about the costumes of different countries and eras, and at the same time teach them how to navigate the museum. To participate, you must register on the site. Subject to availability, it will be possible to join the group directly in the museum.
- - In the halls dedicated to the art of Ancient Greece, all day you can listen to myths and legends, and then look for their characters in the exhibition. KYUshniki will clearly explain what an antique order is, where did ancient Greek columns come from in modern buildings. Participants can even create a model of an ancient temple.
- - The whole day in the French art hall of the second half of the XVIII - beginning of the XIX centuries (hall 23) we will explain to each other concepts related to art with words, gestures, drawings.
- - In the halls of the art of Holland and Flanders of the XVII century we will talk about the museum, look for paintings at the prompts and solve the secrets of portraits. If they want, the children will draw their own small museum.
11:00 - 19:00
Quests for children and adults
To date, we have prepared several quests. Some are made especially for children (from 5 years old), others will be interesting to visitors of any age. Detailed information about quests and printouts of tasks can be obtained from administrators at the entrance to the exposition.
Live music
You will hear several musical numbers that KYuShniki and their friends prepared specially for the action “I will show you a museum”, as well as a choir performance. The schedule can be obtained from the administrators or on the board at the entrance to the exhibition.
Living pictures
halls 11 and 21
How to understand what is happening in the picture? We believe this can be done by reincarnating as characters! After some excursions, you can try on the outfits of the characters of the paintings, copy their poses and try to travel to the scene of the painting. The result of this “time travel” will be several expressive photographs.
Art Gallery of Europe and America of the 19th – 20th Centuries
11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Guided tours
To participate, you must first register on the site, but subject to availability, you can join the group directly in the museum.
The paintings of the Impressionists and their followers have not lost popularity for more than a hundred years. We suggest you talk about why the interest in the work of the Impressionists and artists of the beginning of the 20th century is so great that their contemporaries thought of them.
Historical Character Debate
You were at the first impressionist exhibition. We invite you to discuss with characters from different eras - and contemporaries of the Impressionists, and the same as you, time travelers - what do you think of the new art? What do you say about these artists? Especially for you, we have prepared cards with a description of the characters that will help you get used to the role and reasonably express your position on one of the most controversial issues in the history of art. Rafael Santi and Vincent van Gogh are looking forward to seeing you!
Mini lectures
As part of our classes, we prepared several presentations on a variety of topics related to the history of art and the work of the museum. We will talk about them using the now popular format of short lectures.

Research projects
Projects give KYuShniks the opportunity, under the guidance of specialists, to conduct research and understand topics that are not discussed in the framework of the standard KYU training course. Some of today’s events present the results of such work.
“Sociologist at the Museum” (curated by Sergey Trofimov)
In the course of work on the project, KYuShniki got acquainted with the basics of conducting sociological research and the principles of visual sociology, which helped them better know the life of the museum. Participants will share the results of their observations in a mini-lecture format and try to talk about what museum visitors are like.
“Museum as a City” (curated by Maria Nikitina and Alsu Fatehova)
Is Moscow one city? Or a lot of cities, consisting of routes and spaces in which each individual resides daily? The project participants tried to find out what Moscow is for them personally, and explored these “imaginary cities”. On March 31 in the Museyon they will talk about what place the Pushkin Museum occupies in Moscow KYuishnikov, Moscow sellers of nearby stores and Moscow on duty at the Kropotkinskaya metro station. Are we in the same city?
“From the Origins of Writing” (curators - Tamara Mkryan and Lina Shidlovskaya)
Project participants got acquainted with the ancient writing systems in the museum rooms and tried to reproduce them using calligraphy tools.
At the final exhibition, they will present the works performed as part of the course: stories without words inspired by cave paintings; cuneiform tablets; Album books collected from course assignments and hand-sewn by each participant. KYuShniki will tell visitors about how the project was going and how to understand ancient cultures without knowing their language and not being able to read texts, but just carefully considering the characters.
