October 13-16, 2016
The XV International Festival of Contemporary Music “Moscow Forum” is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of its alma mater, the Moscow Conservatory, whose graduates are the overwhelming majority of leading Russian composers and which have hosted more than a hundred concerts and about five hundred premieres in the previous fourteen “Forums”.
The informal topic of the fifteenth “Forum” can be considered the question “And how are we today?”, Which was put in the title of one of the plays of the final concert. The festival program is an attempt to present an up-to-date slice of avant-garde music through the prism of the history of the Moscow Conservatory and its different generations (45 participating composers in total) - from the sensational premiere of Shostakovich and other classical premieres late for almost a century to the best plays of young composers, from the works of famous in the world of avant-garde composers-professors of the Conservatory before the music of Russian abroad. Along with them, new works by the largest foreign composers-guests of the Conservatory of different years will be heard.
