Fine Art Gallery presents the first Russian exhibition of an artist from Iceland!
This is Raynar Foreman. The project "MONSTERA" includes paintings by the young master.
“At first, painting was just a hobby for me,” says the artist, I worked in the housekeeping of a large building - I was engaged in household affairs - sculpted hamburgers, washed floors. And suddenly one of my works was bought. This gave me an impulse to quit work and concentrate only on painting classes. ”
Now the artist lives in Brussels, his solo exhibitions were held in several galleries in Europe, his works are in many private collections.
“Sources of inspiration for my art are photography and the film of the 1920s - 1960s, as well as the work of Francis Bacon, Basquiat and Andy Warhol, especially his photographs. In my work, I often use images from old comics, tabloid literature in the genres of science fiction and fantasy. Recently discovered American eroticism for housewives, on the basis of which a new series of works “Stockings in a mesh” arose
Reinard Forman’s painting is figurative, his paintings often tell surreal - absurd stories. For example, in the work “Fashionable Alien”, an alien girl in a green spacesuit and dark glasses is shown next to an old movie camera.
Icelandic astronaut Bjarni Trigvason is portrayed as a comic book hero in a raspberry-colored suit and with arms in hand.
Light free, expressive manner of painting and unusual color combinations - pink / yellow, pink / green, purple / blue, create a unique and unusual atmosphere of the world of paintings by Reinard Forman.
“Most often I use pink in my painting,” says the artist. “The pink color is very aggressive, it provokes, so I want to take the viewer out of the comfort zone,” explains Reinard.
Many works depict old equipment - these are old cars, vending machines selling drinks, washing machines, movie cameras and gas stations.
Automata and cars in Foreman’s paintings live their own mysterious lives, almost like in the horror novels of Stephen King.
Many of Foreman’s works confuse the audience, annoy, make people laugh, inspire, make you think and look for associations.
