On December 22, on the eve of the New Year holidays, in the Belyaevo Gallery of the Exhibition Halls of Moscow Association, the grand opening of the Nativity scene festival exhibition will take place. The visual-semantic core of the project is the “nativity scene”: a Christmas plot in a portable wooden box with dolls. Leaving the temple and preserving its sacred meanings, the crib drama took a unique place in the culture of the national holiday, and continued to develop them in the context of modern culture.

Plunging into the exposition space, the viewer makes a kind of journey. He enters the world of the New Year’s holiday, grotesque Christmas toys created by the artist Evgeny Semenov; crosses the artistic reality of Leonid Tishkov with his mysterious, glowing in the dark dolls-divers. Then it rushes through the Christmas garlands and ribbons to the square of the Italian city, flooded with the southern sun, where "here and now" appear Mary with the Baby, Joseph and the townspeople with expressive faces in holiday or work costumes, skillfully made by artists from Naples in the traditions of the 18th century Italian nativity scene.. A separate section of the exhibition is dedicated to the Parsley Theater. Visitors will be able to see the original texts, posters, photographs of parsley performances from the beginning of the 20th century, puppet puppets, waist-screens, curtains, advertising panels, sketches of mise-en-scenes, prints, illustrations from the book by A. D. Stupin (Moscow, 1907) from the collections of the Theater Museum A. A. Bakhrushin.

Further, a visitor from a reality filled with children’s games and carnival consciousness with a nostalgic memory enters the traditional and at the same time very personal world of Russian Christmas, where he is met by wooden angels by Sergey Gorshkov, author’s dolls Vera Sazhina, Victor Nazariti, characters of the crib and the nativity scene is a puppet Christmas theater, the world of the sacrament of birth.
