From October 14 to November 14, the exhibition "Picturesque Caucasus" by Prince Grigory Gagarin "from the collection of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts will be open in the museum’s halls (103 Lenin St.).

For the first time, the Kaluga audience will be offered graphic works from the legendary 19th-century edition of the Picturesque Caucasus (1847). The album includes magnificent views of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Dagestan, Chechnya, images of ancient architectural monuments, genre and battle scenes. Lithographs and chromolithography were performed by the best French masters on the basis of paintings and graphic works of Prince Grigory Grigoryevich Gagarin (1810 - 1893) - a painter, graphic artist, architect, artist, vice president of the Imperial Academy of Arts, member of the Russian Archaeological Society, honorary member of the geographical society, member Society for the Promotion of the Arts and Knight of Many Orders.
The album presents the Caucasus in all its diversity: ancient temples of Armenia and Georgia, elements of the refined culture of a bygone era, military scenes and everyday scenes, picturesque mountain landscapes and portraits of local residents.
All exhibited works are accompanied by brief annotations of Ernest Stackelberg translated into Russian.
For visitors, the exhibition will run from October 14, 2016 to November 14, 2016.
The museum is open from 10.00 to 18.00, on Saturday from 11.00 to 19.00.
Monday is the day off. The last Friday of the month is a sanitary day.
