Zurab Konstantinovich Tsereteli is an iconic figure in Russian and world artistic culture, a multifaceted personality, he is a sculptor, muralist, painter, teacher. People’s Artist of the USSR (1980) and People’s Artist of the Russian Federation (1994), Academician of the USSR Academy of Arts since 1988, President of the Russian Academy of Arts since 1997, laureate of two USSR State Prizes (1970, 1982) and the State Prize of the Russian Federation (1996). Zurab Tsereteli is the author of more than 5,000 works of painting, graphics, sculpture, monumental and decorative art (frescoes, mosaics, panels).
A personal exhibition of paintings by Z. K. Tsereteli was provided to the museum by the author himself from his collection. It is small in number of works and includes several works from his famous series of still lifes “I Was Born a Gardener,” on which he worked for several years. In it he embodied his admiration for the beauty and diversity of the world of flowers. Viewing this exhibition, visitors find themselves in a blooming garden, created by the inspiration and pictorial skill of the artist.
Still lifes differ in composition, rhythm, and selection of objects, but all works are united by the powerful energy of color. His works are characterized by a festive coloristic vision, the transfer of volume and the construction of form with color. The flat-decorative stylization of the form, the laconicism and generality of the silhouette, the decorativeness of the color sound - all lead to a monumental solution to the still life even in a small format.
The exhibition of works by Z. K. Tsereteli is complemented by a personal exhibition of works by photographer V. V. Danilov “The Work of Zurab Tsereteli through the Lens of Viktor Danilov.” This photo exhibition is an interesting documentary story about the life and work of an artist who united great talent and endless love for creativity, people and the world around him.
Its author, Viktor Vasilyevich Danilov, is an Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2015), a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. He is the organizer and participant of more than 100 Russian and international photo exhibitions. His works have been repeatedly presented in museums and galleries in Russia, America, Armenia, and Georgia. And each time they had a significant resonance and evoked a lively response from the audience. The high appreciation of his work was confirmed by letters of gratitude from the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in New York, as well as numerous thanks and diplomas from the heads of cities and exhibition halls.
Victor Danilov has awards from the Russian Academy of Arts. He was awarded the “WORTHY” medal and was also awarded the Order of ANDREY ANDREEVICH MYLNIKOV.
