From December 1, 2017 to January 14, 2018, in the halls of the Victor Bronstein Gallery (Irkutsk) there will be a personal exhibition “Through the Elements” of the famous artist, jeweler, weapons master Zhigzhit Bayashkhalanov (St. Petersburg).
Zhigit is a hereditary master. He was born in the Trans-Baikal Territory, in the Buryat village of Alkhanay. As a child, he became interested in working with metals, watching how his father works, a true master with golden hands. His father supported the boy’s hobby, and over time it became a profession. Now Zhigzhit Bayashkhalanov is a recognized artist, jeweler-gunsmith who has been living in St. Petersburg for many years.
Behind Zhigit is participation in numerous international and all-Russian exhibitions and competitions. His works are included in the collections of many museums and galleries around the world, in private collections of famous politicians, businessmen, public figures.
The master’s exhibition in Irkutsk in the halls of the Victor Bronstein gallery is a kind of professional result of recent years. The exposition contains more than 30 exhibits, among them there are small bronze plastic, table compositions and monumental sculptures, and, of course, a collection of jewelry knives, which can be considered a visiting card of Zhigit.
The master comments: “Initially, a knife is a storehouse of the soul. He has a difficult function. Those symbols that I use, they enhance its sacred meaning. Of course, the symbols carry a decorative and semantic load. The knife itself, with or without ornaments, is a sacred attribute. ”
In all the works of the author, it is easy to see traditional motifs. Preserving and developing national art for Zhigit is fundamentally important. Incarnated with great skill with the help of silver, gold, elite woods and precious stones, his works really amaze the imagination.
Tickets cost 150 rubles (for adults), 50 rubles (for children 3-18 years old) and 50 rubles (for preferential categories of citizens). You can visit the exhibition daily from 11 to 20 hours.
