On November 18, at 16:00, the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (104 Lenina str., Wing) will host the grand opening of the exhibition "The World of Watercolors", which presents the work of the famous artist Yuri Mikhailovich Saakov.
The exposition of the exhibition "The World of Watercolor" presents more than 70 graphic works. These are watercolors, gouaches and several drawings made in ink and pencil. They present a retrospective of the artist’s work from the 1980s to the present. Many works are included in the series "Still lifes", "Moscow", "Moscow region", "Borovsk", on which the artist worked for several years. In his watercolors, he depicts views of old Moscow and its environs, and Borovsk, which became his hometown. Yu. M. Saakov is in a hurry to capture in them the "outgoing nature", because cities live, change, rebuild, and much remains only in the created works. At the exhibition you can see several watercolors from the series "Northern Sketches" and "Belyov", executed by the artist during his trips to Eastern Siberia and the Tula region. A talented watercolor artist Yu.M.Saakov masterfully uses expressive means of such a complex technique as classical watercolor, which almost does not allow any corrections. In his works, painted from nature, transparent and light shades with gentle transitions of tones convey well the effects of sunlight, a wet cloudy day, create the mood of a landscape or the beauty of the subject world in still lifes.

But nevertheless, he always gave preference to the watercolor technique. His works are in private collections in Russia and abroad. His watercolors adorn the interiors of the Moscow City Duma. Several works are in the republican museum of the city of Yoshkar-Ola.
Yu.A. Saakov has been a member of the Union of Artists since 1999. In 1994 he is a Laureate of the All-Russian Exhibition Center (VDNKh).
