From December 22, 2017 to January 28, 2018, an exhibition of Japanese traditional dolls in the Ichimatsu style "TOMO Puppet Studio" will be held at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art.
The Ichimatsu doll first appeared in the Edo era (1603 - 1868) as the embodiment of the image of the then-famous actor Kabuki named Sanogawa Ichimatsu. Since then, dolls in the Ichimatsu style have found their place in the life and culture of Japanese society, and we tried to create our own unique style with a special expression on the doll’s face, a unique kimono design and a complete image.
TOMO Studio began making dolls about 30 years ago, and now it is known for its growing number of fans both in Japan and abroad. The studio is located in the city of Nara (Japan).
