The ArtEidos group of artists was formed in 2016 on the basis of the general conviction of the group members that the main task of fine art is to convey an artistic image.
Eidos is a term of ancient philosophy and literature, originally designating "visible", "image", but gradually gaining a deeper meaning - "concrete manifestation", "bodily or plastic given in thinking." Already at Homer, the term denoted predominantly "excellent appearance." Later, eidos acted as an entity, true, one way or another visible.
Despite the difference in the stylistic approach, each artist of the ArtEidos group associates service to the art of conveying both external and internal images of nature, the truth of life, etc., individually understood and felt by each author’s artistic vision and intuition.
The exhibition project "Reflections" is a joint creative experiment of the group of Moscow artists "Art Eidos". All of them are representatives of various art schools: RAZHViZ Glazunova, Surikov Institute, Stroganovka, MGPI, etc., have passed a certain professional path, have their own stylistic and creative preferences. Their commitment to the traditions of a realistic school unites them, which does not prevent them from constantly searching for new things. The central place among the paintings and graphic works of the group members is occupied by such genres as landscape and still life.
Reflections are not only images and impressions of the external world, real nature, rethought, transformed by creative imagination and captured on canvas and paper. In the works of artists: in choosing a theme or plot, in composition, color and form, as in a mirror, the inner world, the individuality of each of the authors, their life experience, and different perceptions of the environment are reflected. Reflections are many-sided and diverse, as diverse and not alike are the works of artists of the Art Eidos group. Painting and graphics, more academic or more decorative, lyrical or expressive, despite their diversity, successfully complement each other, revealing the philosophy of each author.
