September 11 at 16. 00 in the main building of the Irkutsk Art Museum (Lenin St., 5) opens the exhibition "The Magical World of Glass and Crystal", dedicated to the 90th birthday of the national artist of Russia, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts Boris Bychkov. The exposition from the collection of the museum and the artist’s family for the first time so fully represents the work of an outstanding master who worked in the complex field of decorative and applied art - “decorative glass”.
Stained-glass windows Irkutsk at the Intourist Hotel, Blue Bird in the Bratsk Palace of Culture, chandeliers of the Irkutsk Musical Theater, Vostoksibsantekhmontazh and Agrodorspetsstroy firms, decorative compositions Frozen Sounds and Victory in the permanent exhibition of the Irkutsk Art Museum far from a complete list of the artist’s works known to the Irkutsk people. “The glass of the Baikal blue, the gold of autumn foliage, the discreet beauty of flowering fields has been absorbed by the master’s glass, for many years singing this rare, but at the same time most ancient art in Irkutsk,” says exhibition curator, art critic Sofya Shemyakina.
The exposition will feature ensembles, dinner sets, vases, crystal and colored glass compositions, some of which the public will see for the first time. Specially for the exhibition, the Irkutsk Art Museum has published a catalog that includes reproductions of the master’s works and detailed information about his life and work.
The exhibition opens on September 11 in the main building of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. V.P. Sukacheva (Lenin St., 5) and will work until November 4, 2018. Entrance to the opening is free. Phone for inquiries: 34-01-46.
