Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan (1993),
People’s Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan (2005),
Laureate of the State Prize of the RT. G. Tukai (2008).
Victor Petrovich Arshinov was born in 1945 in Gdansk. He graduated from the Moscow Regional Art College in memory of 1905 (1963-1970). He worked as an artist-designer at the Kazan Trade Advertising Plant (1970-1974), in the Art Fund (1974-1976). Since 1976, for many years, he was a member of the Board of Artists of the Republic of Tajikistan, was the executive secretary of the Union of Artists of Tatarstan, and headed the graphic section of the Artists of the Republic of Tajikistan. Since 2013, he has been the head of the Union of Artists of Russia OVTOO in the Republic of Tatarstan.
Victor Arshinov is one of the brightest artists in the contemporary art of Tatarstan. It is characterized by the freedom of ownership of the line, space and color. Symbolism and metaphor, allegory and allegory harmoniously combine with the realistic artistic language of the master. The work of Arshinov is distinguished by its unusual versatility. He created works in book and magazine graphics, poster and easel graphic genres, painting, sculpture, theatrical and decorative art. In the artist’s work there are significant works that determined his personality and style: “Installers”, “Kamazovka”, “Requiem. 1924 ”and others. The greatest scale of the master appears in monumental graphic series consisting of tens and hundreds of sheets. Among the works addressed by the artist are masterpieces of foreign literature (A. Dante, T. Eliot), Russian poetry and Tatar literature. His works exclude direct illustration of a particular work of literature. This is, first of all, an associative reading that absorbs the spiritual space of a literary source.
In 2003 V. Arshinov completed the series “In Memory of Marina Tsvetaeva”, consisting of one hundred sheets. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Musa Jalil (in 2006), the artist prepared a series of graphic works dedicated to the hero poet “The Last Song”. Inspired by the poetry of Bella Akhmadulina, he released a series of graphic sheets "Barbecue organ for the children’s soul." Tukaevskaya theme became one of the central in the work of Arshinov. The series “Reading Tukay”, created over several years (2005-2011), reflects the artist’s deeply personal reading of poetry by the reformer of the Tatar literary language.
The penetration into the spirit of creativity of great poets, expression, novelty distinguish the master’s series and demonstrate the entire depth of talent and inspiration of the artist.
The exhibition runs until January 12, 2016.
