Felix Evgenievich Vishnevsky (1902-1978) - Soviet museum figure, collector, Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR (1975). He was a connoisseur of arts and artists, museums of the country have repeatedly appealed to his authoritative opinion. In the formation of the collection of the Irkutsk Art Museum among collectors, donors of the twentieth century, Vishnevsky occupies a special place. In the 1960-1970s, he donated to the Irkutsk Museum about two hundred works of painters, graphic artists, sculptors, masters of decorative and applied art in Russia, Europe, the Middle East, China, Japan of the 17th and early 20th centuries. Many works organically entered the permanent exhibition. The merit of Aleksey Fatyanov (director of the Irkutsk Art Museum from 1948 to 1978), who put his name “on a par with the name of V. P. Sukachev” in this stream of artistic values to Irkutsk.
The exhibition will feature archival documents of F.E. Vishnevsky, paintings, graphic sheets and objects of decorative art. Among the masterpieces are the works of Ilya Repin, Ivan Aivazovsky, Boris Kustodiev, Valentin Serov. For the first time, the canvas “Centaurs and Naiads” by the German symbolist Max Klinger is exhibited.
Exhibition “The Great Russian Collector. Gifts of the Moscow collector Felix Evgenievich Vishnevsky - Irkutsk ”will open on December 5 at 16.00 in the main building of the Irkutsk Art Museum (Lenin St., 5) and will work until February 15, 2020. Entrance to the opening is free.
