The exhibition will allow you to appreciate the variety of forms, styles, and materials of execution: wood, ivory, tortoise shell, fabric, silk, paper. The main part of the collection is made up of items from China and Japan, received by the Irkutsk Art Museum from the All-Russian Institute of Armed Forces and Organizations (East Siberian Branch of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society). Some of the exhibits were transferred by the Museum of Oriental Cultures (Moscow) in 1960. In 1994, the Irkutsk Art Museum acquired fans belonging to the wife of the founder of the museum, Nadezhda Vladimirovna Sukacheva. One of them - from black ostrich feathers on a tortoise loom - will be presented at the exhibition. Museum employees and an old Spanish fan are called a rare exhibit. Its plates are made of tortoise shell, on the paper screen of the fan is printed the picture of the famous French artist Jacques Louis David “The Sabine”.
