From January 20 to March 5, 2017 in the Irkutsk "V. Bronstein Gallery" will be a personal exhibition of the Ural sculptor Alfiz Sabirov. As part of the Wind Time project, unique works by a contemporary author will be presented for the first time in the capital of Eastern Siberia.
The young sculptor Alfiz Sabirov, who, nevertheless, has experience in participating in large international and Russian projects, prefers to work with small sculptural forms, combining metal with stone. It is the game of textures and materials that creates a recognizable author’s style. Complex multifaceted compositions seem to be in the process of transformation and transformation. Somewhere, the master left a rough and lumpy surface of the "natural" ingot, somewhere bronze polished to a dazzling golden glow. Stone or wooden foots only enhance the “chased” beauty of the material, and color schemes add to the sculptures of special appeal.
Something mysterious and mysterious can be seen in any work of the master. In some there is rapid movement, in others there is stillness and silence, but one way or another, in each one it is easy to catch the subtle echoes of an ancient oriental culture.
“The works of Alfiz Sabirov are not directly related to the epic,” says art critic Marina Feldblum. “Unlike, for example, Dasha Namdakov, he creates his own fantasy, even phantasmagoric images.” Indeed, the master’s work is based on a special personal mythology, the inspiration for which was the ancient traditions and myths of the East. Based on the images born in his dreams, childhood memories and thoughts, he creates surprisingly complex in structure, but familiar images. In front of the audience, an intricate performance is unfolding with the participation of unicorns from his village, many-faced warriors, mysterious princesses and mythical monsters. The creativity of Alfiz Sabirov is nothing more than a metaphor for his subconscious mind, addressed not to the mind, but rather to the imagination. Despite the complexity of philosophy and symbolism, encoded in the master’s works, they cause a strong emotional response even among sophisticated viewers, forcing them to look for the solution to the mystery hidden in them.
