November 1 - 27, 2016 in the Irkutsk "Gallery of V. Bronstein" the exhibition "Ulger. Continuation of the tale. " Viewers will be able to see seven new author’s dolls created by the family of the sculptor Dasha Namdakov according to his sketches.
The idea of the Ulger exhibition project was born within the walls of Viktor Bronstein’s gallery about a year ago, in December 2015. The exhibition attracted the attention of both children and adults, awakening in them dreams of fairy-tale princesses who come to life with the advent of night, moving through the empty halls of the gallery on unicorns and shaggy lions or walking tiny dogs.
Having once become the ideological inspirers of the project, now the “V. Bronstein Gallery” is ready to present a new exhibition - “Ulger. Continuation of the tale "and again tell the world about the magical transformation of" matter "into" spirit "…
Unique dolls are made by craftsmen and craftswomen from the large family clan of the sculptor Dasha Namdakov, who makes sketches, while other members of the family make skeletons, shape and color the characters. Materials and techniques are quite simple: pieces of leather and fur, horsehair and rags of lace, wooden or wire bases - frames. However, the result of painstaking work is stunning: executed as sculptures, the dolls are static, but in each of them there is a certain character, and in an exquisite pose - a special plastic. The “jewelry” techniques of sewing, braiding hair, decorating with different materials - cause admiration for the craftsmanship of needlewomen.
With the support of the “V. Bronstein Gallery”, in December 2016 the project will go on its first foreign tour - to the Beijing Museum of World Art at the personal invitation of its director Ms. Wang Limei. During the year, a unique collection of designer dolls will travel to cities in China, and then Russian museums and puppet festivals are waiting for it. In 2017, in London, as part of a personal exhibition, Dasha Namdakov also plans to show "her family’s dolls."
