On the eve of the New Year and Christmas, the Museion center will host an exhibition of works by the participants of the Okoyom art workshops.
From December 22, 2021 to January 19, 2022, the Museion Center will host an exhibition of works by artists with special needs who are regular visitors to the Pushkin Museum. After getting acquainted with the exhibition "Siena at the Dawn of the Renaissance", the authors worked with gospel stories, being in search of their own language. With the participation of Elena Osipova, the author and artistic director of the project, the artists managed to transform the experience of reading the Gospel into an original artistic expression. Festive and everyday, personal and collective stories are told through artwork done on cardboard, plywood, textiles and other media. Each work is accompanied by a text commentary by the author.
All authors whose works are presented at the exhibition are participants in the Okoyom art workshops.
Elena Osipova, teacher of Okoyom art workshops, curator:
“It was important for us to see the reflection of the past in ourselves and in ourselves in the images of the apostles, the Mother of God and Christ. On the one hand, these works are an attempt to tell through images about something cherished, deep, personal, and on the other, about what is accessible and essential for all of us. "
Natalya Krutilina, head of the development department of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts A.S. Pushkina, curator of the exhibition:
“Now, in an era of numerous restrictions associated with the pandemic, we are all experiencing a time at the dawn of the Renaissance, not only in Siena, but where we are. In the context of the obvious need to create a cultural environment without the excluded, we are interested in the possibility of communication between the author and the viewer in a situation where the plot is only an excuse for a personal meeting and creative dialogue. The exhibition is interesting, first of all, for the variety of ways of perceiving familiar topics with the involvement of various types of experience and identification options. "
The exhibition will be held in the interior by the architect Alexander Brodsky, one of the architects of the Museum Quarter buildings, on the eve of the brightest and most joyful Christian holiday - the Nativity of Christ. You can visit the exhibition from December 22, 2021 to January 19, 2022 at the address Moscow, Kolymazhny pereulok 6/2, 3, during the working days of the Museion Center.
