In the gallery "Peresvetov Lane" opens another exhibition in the framework of the program "Paper Only". The exhibition will feature more than 50 graphic works by Vladimir Dubossarsky. Drawings and sketches from albums were made in different years and in different techniques. For the viewer, this exhibition is a unique opportunity to see the artist’s work process, from which something is realized, and something remains in the form of sketches and ideas.
Vladimir Dubosarsky: “This exhibition consists of different, completely incompatible, not interconnected by a common concept of things. These are works of different years - internal material, very personal. I was always interested in sketches, drafts, sketches of masters - there is more imagination, energy and freedom.
And now I show some things that do not turn into great art, but have their value in this form: as thoughts, ideas, unrealized opportunities that someday, perhaps, will be realized. It’s like I’ve returned home after a long absence and am looking at old things again. ”
Larisa Grinberg, art director of the gallery: “Duo Dubosarsky-Vinogradov” was one of the most “stellar” groups of Russian contemporary art; however, the author Dubosarsky is a completely independent creative unit. We know this author and do not know. Large-scale paintings have been replaced by more chamber graphics: the viewer is invited to follow the creative evolution of the artist in recent years. ”
Vladimir Dubossarsky was born in Moscow in 1964. He studied at the Moscow Art College in memory of 1905, then at the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov. Since 1994 - member of the Moscow Union of Artists.
Known for both personal projects and collaborations with the artist Alexander Vinogradov. He participated in many international exhibitions. The artist’s paintings are in the collections of the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Pompidou Center in Paris and another ten major museums and galleries. In 2002, he became the initiator and ideological leader of the Art-Klyazma contemporary art festival. In 2013, Vladimir Dubosarsky presented the Chronicles 13 performance at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, in which he created his works in the museum for 14 days. The last solo exhibition of Dubosarsky’s “Artist’s House” was held in 2014 on the banks of the Klyazma reservoir at the venue of the Art-Klyazma festival.
“Paper Only” is a joint project of the Peresvet Lane Gallery and XL PROJECTS. “Paper” here is a word that traditionally gives rise to an association with drawing, drawing. And the main emphasis on the drawing of contemporary artists.
We decided not to adhere to the chronological principle, focusing on the works that are being created "here and now." Indeed, the classic art in process is more honest, interesting, flexible, able to keep the viewer in suspense; and we hope that this program will give the necessary impetus to the study and understanding of Russian drawing in professional circles and will be interesting to the viewer, partly restoring the lost tradition of regular exhibitions of graphic artists that existed in Soviet times.
The project is designed for several years. This year, drawings of artists of different generations will be presented: Nikita Alekseev, Denis Salautin, Boris Matrosov, Svetlana Shuvaeva and Ilya Dolgov.
