At the end of 2016, declared the Year of Russian Cinema, the exhibition "Freeze Frame" will open in the Irkutsk Art Museum. The exhibition will feature paintings, photo and film documents telling about the cinematic history of the Irkutsk region.
Organizers of the exhibition: Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. V.P. Sukachev and the Irkutsk Regional Film Fund with the participation of the Irkutsk Regional Museum of Local Lore and the Museum of the History of Irkutsk. A.M. Sibiryakova.
Portrait is the main genre of the exhibition. Artists - both Irkutsk and capital masters - captured actors and actresses, those whose work gained fame among the audience. So, the portrait of People’s Artist of the USSR Nikolai Mordvinov by K. D. Kitayka and the portrait of Mikhail Ulyanov by G. E. Novikova are very expressive. In addition, among the paintings, the picture “Plot for newsreels” by the artist and member of the Union of Cinematographers N. A. Opanasenko can be especially distinguished; this is the rare case when the filming process itself has become an object of art. Also among the exhibits are sculptural and graphic works, retro photographs, and, in addition, rare film technology.

At the opening of the exhibition, the Irkutsk Regional Film Fund will present a documentary selection of unique frames of the chronicle, telling about the figures of theater and cinema, both the Irkutsk region and those who came to the region. In particular, it will be possible to see how Mosfilm shot the film “February Wind” in Irkutsk, and how on the shores of Lake Baikal the creative group of the Gorky Studio created a musical comedy film. This chronicle will be demonstrated throughout the exhibition.
Within the framework of the opening, a quiz on knowledge of the cinema history of the Irkutsk region will be held. Connoisseurs will receive pleasant souvenirs from the Regional Film Fund. We are waiting for everyone on December 15 at 15.00 at the address: Irkutsk, st. Lenin, 5. Entrance to the opening of the museum tradition is free. The exhibition "Stop-frame" will run until January 8, 2017.
