Artmuz will host the first in Russia exhibition of the centenary Belarusian photographer Jan Komar, whose works gained worldwide fame when their author was 97 years old. In the photographs, portraits of the post-war era are so trivial, at first glance, but so extraordinary.
Yan (Ivan) Komar is a photographer from Belarus with an amazing destiny and special sensitivity in his approach to photography. Now it is called the national treasure of Belarus, but the first 97 years of his life he filmed exclusively "for himself." At one point, Ian was noticed by journalists and over the next three years he became the hero of numerous TV spots, reports, articles and interviews.
The main theme in his work is love for people. A Belarusian photographer finds in ordinary things that which lies beyond the bounds of a simple glance and is accessible only to optics skillfully tamed by a professional (despite his gentlemanly modesty, Komar has been shooting almost all his life). Jan Komar captures the essence of a person, hence the feeling that you personally know everyone in the photo, you involuntarily feel them as neighbors, distant relatives, childhood friends…
Especially for the 100th anniversary of Jan Komar - for the first time an exhibition of his works is exhibited in Russia, in the Museum of Contemporary Art ARTMUZA.
