On November 18, 2016, the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia will open the contemporary art exhibition “Actual Russia: the environment”, created in partnership with ROSIZO-NCCA and the Foundation for the Development of Contemporary Art. The exhibition will feature the works of more than 60 artists, including new works by famous contemporary artists from museums and private collections.
The “Actual Russia” project will present the “living environment” of artists from all over the country, a reflection of the world in different directions of contemporary art, from painting to video art. Nature and technology, history and modernity in the works of famous artists (Sergey Geta, Alexander Dashevsky, Rinat Voligamsi, Igor Pestov, Pavel Pepperstein and others) and young authors (Azat Basyrov, Ilya Fedotov-Fedorov, Ustina Yakovleva, etc.) created over the past five years, they will continue the new permanent exhibition of the museum dedicated to the history of Russia in the 1990s and 2000s. “We judge other epochs by art, our ours by newspaper headlines; we’ll try to change the optics! ”, - Arseny Steiner, curator.
The exhibition "Actual Russia" will demonstrate the main trends of contemporary Russian art over the past 5 years. “The interest in the new painting, which has become the main among the plastic arts, looks quite expected and logical,” - Vladimir Potapov, artist. “The flight from reality, characteristic of Russia at the beginning of the century, led to extreme forms of consumption and selfishness, including in art; but art lives according to the laws of secrecy, and not according to the laws of trends, ”Igor Pestov, artist.
During the exposition, the museum will host meetings and discussions with artists and specialists on the role of fine art in the context of contemporary history and culture of Russia.
Works for the exhibition were provided by the famous galleries of contemporary art: Galerie Iragui, RuArts, 11. 12, Triumph, Pop / off / art, Gridchin Hall (Moscow), Marina Gisich Gallery, AnnaNova (St. Petersburg), X-MAX )Ufa), ARKA (Vladivostok) and others.
