The A.V. Shchusev State Museum of Architecture presents an exhibition on the history of architecture of the ancient eastern oasis and on the current state of the complex in Palmyra, which was significantly damaged during the 2014 - 2017 military conflict.
The exposition will include engravings of the 18th and 19th centuries from the funds of the Museum of Architecture, the State Hermitage and photographs of archaeologists of the 19th century from the funds of the Institute of the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences. All these materials will provide an image of Palmyra until the twentieth century. Modern 3D reconstruction of the legendary customs Tarifa, photographs and video materials will complement the architectural appearance with historical facts about the economic significance of the city. A separate section of the exhibition is dedicated to the tragic fate of the monument at the beginning of the 21st century, including personnel from military photographers, topographic maps and video clips illustrating a new page in the history of Palmyra - a UNESCO monument that today needs urgent conservation.
