On June 6, the Museum of Moscow will open the exhibition “Too Much Freedom”. Graduates of the Cascade. Project as a Method ”will show more than 120 completed projects in different techniques and directions: total installations, video art, performances, graphics, cartoons and audio recordings.
"Cascade. Project as a Method ”- an independent school for high school students. At the beginning of 2020, recruitment took place for the new, already the third, academic year of the program. About 250 young people between the ages of 13 and 18 have been working on their own projects for nine months with renowned artists and curators. They explored the surrounding reality and themselves, learned to go from idea to implementation. Each of the works presented at the exhibition is a reflection on the themes of boundaries, protest, acceptance and age. All together - a sincere statement about the peculiarities of social and cultural life in Moscow and Russia.
This year, teenagers talk about the complexity of mutual understanding, about the inevitability of death and the need to accept it, about anonymity and security, about the working class and the attitude towards it from the outside, about the complex image of a woman, growing up, deconstruction, violence and boundaries - external and internal. Much of this year’s work is devoted to the study of memory. Participant Arina Tagirova conducted a study of the archives of the area of her childhood. The work of the artist Mara Laricheva, who found long-forgotten film strips of her mother, presented to her when she was a child, will be presented. Katya Gromyko will show the dedication work to the artist Mikhail Vrubel, and Elizaveta Chernyaeva, with the help of a reinterpreted sculpture of Venus of Milosskaya, will try to talk with the audience about violence and corporality. In the art project of Masha Terentyeva, you can hear the voices of people, who have overcome eating disorders: they will talk about their experience of recovery and the difficulties they faced.
