July 13 at 16-00 in the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (Lenin St., 103, second floor) will open the exhibition of Sergei Zhukov. Painting.
Sergei Alexandrovich Zhukov was born in August 1970 in the city of Belgorod-Dnestrovsky in the artist’s family. He graduated from art school under the guidance of his father Alexander Petrovich Zhukov. After school, the young man was in search of himself, his life’s path, he knew different aspects of life.
In the nineties of the difficult years of perestroika, Sergei Zhukov reinterprets life values and is formed as a person. During this period, he moved from Belgorod-Dnestrovsky to his father’s homeland in the village of Mokrye in the courtyards of the Khvastovichi district of the Kaluga region, takes up Orthodoxy under the guidance of the Optina elders, and is engaged in peasants.
At the age of 33, Sergei Zhukov begins to paint his paintings, inspired by the poetry of the expanses of the Central Russian strip, the calm colors of the landscape. Landscape - a favorite genre, which the artist devoted himself to. The smell of grass, the rustle of the wind in the foliage, the murmur of the creek, the sound of the waves, the creaking of snow on the hard frost-all this you feel almost physically, looking at the pictures of Sergei Zhukov. The lack of sharpness, dissonant contrasts, characteristic of modern art, helps to achieve harmony of the picturesque space.
At the age of 36, Sergei Zhukov graduated from the Odessa Art School named after MB Grekov (teacher in painting - Yusim SR, according to the drawing - Likholet AK). After graduation, the artist lived and successfully worked in Odessa in the genres of landscape painting, marina, portrait. But the main theme of his work was the landscape of the Central Russian band. The main teacher and mentor in the work of Sergei Zhukov throughout his life remains his father, whose paintings the artist grew.
Today Sergey Aleksandrovich lives and works in the village of Mokrye yards of Khvastovichi district of the Kaluga region. He is a regular participant of international exhibitions. His works are in private collections and galleries in Italy, Germany, the US and Russia.
The exhibition will last until 12 August.
