On August 27, 2020 at 14:00 at the Information, Education and Exhibition Center of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts, the opening of the personal exhibition of Sergei Zhukov "Without Summing Up…" will take place, timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the artist.
Sergey Zhukov is 50! The date is not significant when it comes to an artist of rare talent. At this exhibition, we will not summarize or draw a line to the successes achieved, we want to show all the diversity and breadth of the master’s talent, which is reflected in the works presented.
Sergey Aleksandrovich Zhukov was born in 1970 in the city of Belgorod-Dnestrovsky. He graduated from art school there. Graduated from the Grekov Odessa Art School in 2010. Currently he lives and works in Kaluga. She is a regular participant in international exhibitions. His works are in private collections and galleries in Italy, Germany, the USA and Russia.
The realization of his powers in painting of various genres and directions is characteristic of the artist Sergei Zhukov: landscapes, portraits, still lifes - everything is harmoniously woven into the canvas of his creative life.
From early childhood, Sergei’s artistic and aesthetic development was influenced by his father, Alexander Petrovich Zhukov, who had been painting throughout his life.
The atmosphere of creativity reigned in the Zhukov family. Every day, Sergei spent a lot of time in his father’s studio among paintings, sketches and drawings.
As he grew up, joint exits to the open air further strengthened Sergei in his choice to associate life with the visual arts - the vast expanses of his native nature, the understanding of its beauty made an indelible impression on him. Subsequently, all this found a response in the master’s works of art.
Artist Sergei Zhukov belongs to those painters for whom the Central Russian landscape has become the main theme for creativity. He tries to reveal familiar phenomena in his works in a new way, enriching the emotional feelings of everyone who sees his paintings. To stop for a moment, look around and reflect on the eternity of being and the greatness of nature - this is the tacit call of his landscape works ("Forest Stream. Morning", "Spring is Coming", "Short Days. December", "Village Autumn" and others).
Still lifes presented at the exhibition, on the contrary, are more dynamic ("Bouquets of lilacs", "Rosehip", "Still life with porcini mushrooms"). They do not have the usual classical static character: light colors and reflected sun rays fill his works with bright notes and ease. Considering the still lifes made by Sergei Zhukov, one can feel the freshness of a summer day, the breath of the wind, the transparency of the air and the almost physical materiality of objects.
The portrait genre deserves special attention in the work of Sergei Aleksandrovich Zhukov. High craftsmanship and professionalism distinguish each portrait he made. The character of the hero, his resemblance to the original, lively energy, undoubtedly, are attractive to the viewer and tune in to a careful study of the psychological state of the model. ("Portrait of a Woman", "Portrait of a Girl", "Reading"). In such a vision, the execution by the master of the image of a person, lies his special talent as a portrait painter.
It is impossible not to note the work of Sergei Zhukov’s father - Alexander Petrovich. His works are also presented at the exhibition and allocated in a separate exposition block. These are sketch works of a small format, but written with great warmth, love and skill.
Alexander Petrovich Zhukov was born in 1941 in the Kaluga region. After the occupation during the Great Patriotic War, after graduating from high school, he entered the pedagogical school, where he later taught drawing. Later, Alexander Petrovich graduated from the Moscow Pedagogical Institute. By that time, he had already formed as a professional artist, which made it possible to educate a worthy successor of his work, transfer the skills of painting and drawing, instill love, respect for work, and also give a powerful creative message in life to his son Sergei.
For visitors, the exhibition will run from August 27 to September 13, 2020.
