The project is dedicated to the study and understanding by the artist of the plane as a category of visual culture. The works presented at the exhibition, at a first glance at them, arouse the viewer’s desire to define them as “paintings”, since many of them are made in the traditional “canvas, oil” technique, or look like graphic sheets. However, these works blur the boundaries of this definition, working primarily with the possibilities of a picture as a material object limited in space.
The situation of designating a picture as an object or an object as a picture re-actualizes in the space of the Kashirka exhibition hall those questions that 30 years ago, in April 1990, the exhibition "Towards the Object" posed.
The exposition presents planar paintings and graphic works, works made in the author’s techniques. A small number of volumetric-spatial works related to planar works conceptually will also be exhibited.
Within the framework of the project, thematic events are planned: curator tours, discussions with the author.
