The exhibition “Irkutsk-related Fates” will open in the Sculpture Gallery of the Irkutsk Art Museum on September 27. The exposition will feature the works of Arkady and Natalia Lodyanov, Honored Artists of the Russian Federation, in whose work the main role is played by stone-cutting and jewelry art.
“Irkutsk-related fates” are bas-reliefs, relief - plaques, medals and medal compositions, the heroes of which are famous Irkutsk citizens who connected their life with art. In particular, the public will see the executed sculptural portraits of artists V. S. Rogal, B. T. Bychkov, V. G. Smagin, A. G. Kostovsky, A. M. Muravyov, A. I. Alekseev and others. A relief plaque dedicated to Valentin Rasputin will also be presented. It was supposed to create three works under the general title “Conversations with the writer. V. G. Rasputin ”, but in March 2015, work on the composition was interrupted due to the unexpected death of the great writer.
“The whole series: medals, bas-reliefs, plaques have a stylistic unity. The plane fills the most important thing - the head, face. There are no auxiliary, narrative elements. “The spiritual principle is considered by the authors as the main quality of the work,” says Elena Kabunova, head of the gallery, art critic, “the artists focused on a deep study of the plasticity of the human face and its spiritual essence.”
The choice of the name for the exhibition is not accidental. In the 70-80s. Natalia and Arkady Lodyanov did not miss a single transmission of the writer Mark Sergeyev “Connected Fates with Irkutsk”. At one of the literary meetings, they met with the writer, and Mark Davidovich became a frequent and welcome guest in their creative workshop. He planned to prepare a television story from the "workshop where the stone comes to life." And today, artists with their work continue to tell a story that was once begun by a writer.
The exhibition will open on Tuesday September 27 in the Gallery of Sculpture of the Irkutsk Art Museum at the address: st. Sverdlov, 16. Entrance to the opening is free. Beginning at 15.00. The work of the exhibition “Irkutsk-related Fates” will last until October 30, 2016.
