On December 19, 2019, the National Art Gallery of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan (Kazan, the Kremlin, the Khazine Museum Complex, 3rd entrance) will open the exhibition of Rustem Akhmetovich Kildibekov, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the artist.
Rustem Akhmetovich Kildibekov - monumental artist, painter, graphic artist, Honored Worker of the Republic of Tatarstan and Russia, People’s Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Tatarstan named after Gabdulla Tukai - was born in 1934 in Kazan. He graduated from the Kazan Art College, Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts. In the early 1960s he returned to Kazan with the artist and wife Maria Semenovna Kildibekova.
Rustem Kildibekov became one of those artists whose work not only attracts, but captivates with amazing integrity and depth. It is expressed not only by coloristic richness, picturesqueness, which is invariably present in his canvases, but also by that special spirituality, understatement, secret that remains in the soul after communicating with his paintings.
R. A. Kildibekov tried himself in different types of art. In the monumental, this is the decoration of the facade of the Volga Hotel in collaboration with V. Malikov and S. Bubennov, painting in the interior of the building of the suburban station, the banquet hall of the Tatarstan Hotel, decoration of the new building of the G. Kamal Tatar Academic Theater, etc.
An interesting and bright page in the work of Rustem Kildibekov is his creation of tapestries, mainly in collaboration with his wife Maria Kildibekova. Before the arrival of these artists in Tatarstan, this type of decorative art did not exist. The Kildibekovs together developed this type of creativity for Tatar art. The themes of public holidays, fairy tales and ceremonies, plots from life and history were embodied in magnificent tapestry compositions that adorned the city’s significant public buildings.
Perfectly mastering the monumental and decorative forms of art, Rustem Akhmetovich showed himself most fully and deeply in painting and graphics. It was in them that most of all the artist expressed his views on life. In the works of R. Kildibekov, so simple and ordinary at first glance, there is a constant dialogue between the outer space and the inner world of the artist, his soul.
The State Museum of Fine Arts, which opens in the National Art Gallery, presents paintings and tapestries created by R. A. Kildibekov, mainly over the past five years from the collection of the Pushkin Museum and the collection of the artist.
The exhibition runs until January 19, 2020.
