June 21 at 16.00 in the main building of the Irkutsk Art Museum (Lenin St., 5) opens the exhibition "Russian Porcelain. Dynasties of the Kuznetsovs, Perevalovs. " The exposition presents porcelain and faience works of the 19th century by the largest domestic porcelain monopoly of the Kuznetsovs and the only porcelain dynasty of the Perevalovs in Siberia.
The exhibition tells the story of the two major porcelain manufactures in Russia of the late XIX - early XX century. One of them, now known as the “M.S. Kuznetsov Porcelain and Earthenware Production Partnership”, began its development at the beginning of the 19th century and in a hundred years grew into a real monopoly, uniting under one name the eight largest factories throughout the European part of Russia empire. At the end of the XIX century, Kuznetsov porcelain began to be delivered to the Tsar’s court, and in 1902 the Kuznetsovs received the title of “Supplier of the Court of His Imperial Majesty”. Partnership products were in great demand in Turkey, Persia, Bulgaria, Japan, America, Austria, India and other countries.
In Siberia, the Perevalov family became the most famous porcelain dynasty, which opened its factory in 1869 near the mouth of the Haita River. The choice of a place of production was influenced by the exceptional properties of local clay, which was comparable in quality to the famous Belgian kaolin. The heyday of the factory fell on the period from 1880 to 1907, when high-quality inexpensive dishes and cult objects were produced here, characterized by dazzling whiteness, milk transparency and density of the crock. The purity and sonority of Perevalovo porcelain were famous throughout Russia.
The exhibition presents more than a hundred products of the Kuznetsov and Perevalov porcelain enterprises made in the 19th century. The exposition is supplemented with photographs of family members.
The exhibition will open on June 21 at 16.00 in the main building of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. V.P. Sukachev (st. Lenin, 5) and will work until the end of August. Entrance to the opening is free. Phone for inquiries: 34-01-46.
