On February 11, in the Manor of V.P. Sukachev (December Events St., 112), the exhibition “Russian Patterns” dedicated to the unique types of Russian decorative painting opens. The exposition is dedicated to the Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia. The exhibition introduces visitors to the traditional types of Russian patterns: trays of Zhostovo painting, as well as items of lacquer miniatures of Palekh painting are presented here.
The Zhostovo craft is known throughout the world for a seemingly common household item - a metal tray. For almost two centuries, truly remarkable works of art have come out of the hands of true masters of their craft - painted Zhostovo trays. The origin of the Zhostovo craft itself is associated with the Lukutinskaya lacquer miniature on papier-mâché, which was made in the nearby village of Zhostovo. Fedoskino. In 1825, the miniaturist O. F. Vishnyakov, the son of the owner of a Moscow factory for the manufacture of metal painted trays, founded a workshop in Zhostovo, where trays with plot and flower paintings were created. The creations of Zhostovo craftsmen are kept in the collections of Laura Bush, Jacques Chirac, the English Queen Elizabeth, the Spanish King Juan Carlos II, in the collections of the first persons of our state.
The Palekh miniature is known throughout the world and has existed for almost a hundred years. In fact, this artistic tradition is several centuries old. Palekh became the center of icon painting as early as the 17th century; the Palekh icon before the revolution was no less famous than the Palekh casket today, and these two types of art are directly related.
The exhibition "Russian Patterns" will be open at the Estate of V.P. Sukachev (December Events St., 112) until April 3. Phone for inquiries and appointments for excursions: 53-12-24.
