Rushan Galyafovich Shamsutdinov is a famous Kazan painter, graphic artist, designer, calligrapher, photographer, member of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation, member of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Tatarstan, Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, People’s Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Rushan Shamsutdinov was born on November 25, 1946 in Kazan. Educated as a painter and teacher at the Kazan Art College. He was a student of L. Kalyurand, T. Zueva, L. Potyagunin, R. Tukhvatullin. In 1981 he graduated from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute with a degree in graphic art. In Moscow, he studied with A. Vasnetsov, D. Bisti, A. Goncharov, D. Zhilinsky, A. Lepyatsky.
Haris Yakupov, People’s Artist of the USSR, highly appreciated the work of R. G. Shamsutdinov: “The work of Rushan Shamsutdinov is a vivid phenomenon in Russian culture… As an artist, he is occupied with the problems of the cultural and historical evolution of not only the Tatar, but also all the peoples included in the general The concept of "Turkic world."
At the exhibition you can see the works of Shamsutdinov, saturated with national color. Its images of Kazan attract: the old Kazan and the modern city, as if connected with its historical past by a magic thread.
At the exhibition, the artist first shows a series of pastel works dedicated to Italy.
Rushan Shamsutdinov is one of the leading book schedules of the republic: he has issued about 500 publications, including the heroic epos “Idegei”, “The Book of Yusuf” Kul Gali, “The Journey of Ibn Fadlan to the Volga Bulgaria in the X Century,” books by S. Hakim, A. Gilyazova, R. Valeeva and others. The exhibition will first feature illustrations for the book "Tales of the World", which is being prepared for publication in the Tatar Publishing House.
In the Gallery of Modern Art, where about 150 works will be presented, Rushan Shamsutdinov will demonstrate all the facets of his work.
To date, Shamsutdinov has won the Third Prize at the Kazan Souvenir Competition (1975), the First Prize winner at the Political Poster Competition in Moscow (1981), the First Prize winner at the logo contest “The World Tatars Congress, Kazan” and the “All-Union Conference of Turkologists, Kazan ”(1992), laureate of the international prize named after Kul Gali (2001) et al.
The works of Rushan Shamsutdinov are kept in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
