March 30, 2019 at the Museum of Moscow will open an exhibition-novel "New Arrivals. A chest of memory. " The project of the writer Marina Moskvina and the artist Leonid Tishkov, who designed the exhibition space, will include fragments of the heritage of the Zakharov-Moskvin family as well as exhibits from the collection of the Museum of Moscow - photographs of revolutionary times and household items.
As conceived by the authors, this exhibition is not just a historical excursion, saga or fiction, but an alloy of all these three concepts, an exhibition-novel about the history of the Moscow family of Zakharov-Moskvins. At the center of the story is a ship chest raised from the ship Generosa in Novorossiysk that sank in the 1920s. The chest has been kept in the Zakharov-Moskvin family for more than a hundred years, gradually filling with family values and relics that can now be seen by guests of the Museum of Moscow.
From the bottom of the sea he was taken by the grandfather of Marina Moskvina Stepan Zakharov - a participant in three wars and three revolutions, the hero of her novels "Cryo" and "The Recycle Bin for the Diamond Sutra." In the 1920s, Zakharov, a resident of the legendary Nirnsee house in Bolshoi Gnezdnikovsky Lane, was one of the leaders of the Rogozhsko-Simonovsky district of Moscow, and Stepan Zakharov managed to save the chest and its precious contents, despite the hardships of wars and changing places.
Project curator Marina Moskvina: “He was an obsessed archivist, like Pushkin’s stingy knight, stack by stack, he put in a chest of evidence of his life: countless photos, certificates and conference credentials, transcripts of meetings, magazines and newspapers, letters of recommendation and love notes, and even the pencils with which they were written. "
Visitors will be able to learn about the fate of the second grandfather of the writer - the equally legendary figure of Boris Terentyevich Moskvin, a diplomat who worked in England, Germany and the USA in the 1920s and 30s, and her other eminent relatives, such as the commandant of the Grand Kremlin Palace and the Lenin Mausoleum Gergard Napoleonovich Zvirko. Their photographs, letters, personal items, and most importantly - the stories about them by Marina Moskvina will be presented.
Part of the archive of the Zakharovs-Moskvins, including D.I. autographs Ulyanova, N.I. Bukharin, as well as books and newspapers of revolutionary times, was donated to the Museum of Moscow.
