The time of great changes and great hopes could not but be reflected in the domestic fine art of the 20th century. A new exhibition from the museum’s collection shows how the face of the October Revolution and the events that followed in the works of artists during the 1920s and 1970s of the last century changed - from absolute creative freedom and the search for new pictorial means to the established style of socialist realism. The exposition includes works by both metropolitan masters and Irkutsk authors, which have become classics of Soviet art. Here you can see the works of Alexei Zhibinov and Peter Konchalovsky, Vera Ermolaeva and Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Evgeny Spassky and David Burliuk, Mikhail Suzdaltsev and Yaroslav Nikolaev.
Ya.S. Nikolaev. Land Decree. 1967
The history of the revolution, and then the USSR, was reflected in all genres of art, and this is clearly visible in the exposition, where, in addition to painting and graphics, sculpture and decorative art are also presented. So, for example, one of the most striking phenomena in the art of the beginning of the 20th century was agitational porcelain, born October. The exhibition presents objects produced by the State Porcelain Factory in Petrograd in the 1920s under the artistic direction of Sergei Chekhonin.
A separate place is occupied by works of the same age as the October Revolution. Artists Konstantin Yuon, Victor Zarubin, Nikolay Krymov, Mikhail Yakovlev from the turbulent events of our time found salvation in the beauty of their native nature
