October 12 at 15.00. in "Manor V.P. Sukachev "opens an exhibition of rare dolls. In total, more than 100 unusual exhibits will be presented, revealing the role of dolls in the culture and traditions of different peoples. First of all, traditional dolls of the peoples of Russia, Europe, Asia, America and Africa will be shown: amulets, ceremonial, and play dolls. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to make sure that, despite many other cultural differences, it is in dolls that a close similarity of traditions of different peoples of the world is revealed.
A special place at the exhibition will be given to dolls of the XIX - XX centuries, which keep in themselves some interesting story related to their birth. Among these dolls can be called a doll with three faces; puppets depicting the famous Canadian fives - the sisters of Dion; Raggedy Ann Rag Doll; fortune teller doll; charming dolls dolls Kyupi. One of the exhibits, Japanese Karakuri-ningyo, is a mechanical doll that holds a tray for a tea ceremony. If you put a cup of tea on a tray, the doll begins to shake its head and move toward the guest to whom the drink is intended. When tea is taken from the tray, the doll stops. When the cup is returned to the tray, it unfolds and leaves.
The smallest doll at the Frozen Charlotte exhibition has a size of only 2.5 cm (1 inch), and the largest is a boudoir doll of the early twentieth century with a height of about 70 cm. A unique sensation of the exhibition will be a doll of the brand Character Saroff doll, made by the hands of a Russian master, emigrated after the 1917 revolution in the United States. “We think that this is the only doll of this author that is currently in Russia,” says Natalia Goncharenko, deputy director of the Irkutsk Art Museum. Little is known about his work in our country, all of them are handmade and today are a rare collection. ”
Author’s dolls by Irkutsk master Oksana Sizova will complement the exposition. The exhibition will run until January 15, 2017 at the address: Irkutsk, ul. December events, 112.
