July 25, 2019 at the National Art Gallery of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan (Kazan, the Kremlin, the Khazine Museum Complex, 3rd entrance), the exhibition of Finnish sculptor, ceramist and artist Rafael Sayfullin “Little Finland” will open.
Rafael Dzhiganshevich Sayfullin was born in 1952 in the city of Kitab, Uzbek SSR. In 1979, he graduated from the V.I. Mukhina Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School, Department of Ceramics and Glass, and was a student of the outstanding professor V. S. Vasilkovsky. Since 1992 lives in Finland in the city of Kisko. Rafael Dzhiganshevich has more than fifty personal exhibitions in Russia, Finland, the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, and the Aland Islands. He is the author of urban and park sculptures installed in Berlin, cities of Finland and Russia. In 2018, his sculpture "Horse Country" was installed in Kazan on Bauman Street. R. D. Sayfullin is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and Finland.
The exhibition “Little Finland” is an acquaintance with the artist’s inner world, in which his feelings live, his dreams are the most important, most necessary material for creating real art.
In the exposition one can see sculptural compositions from bronze (“Mother’s Letter,“ Elegy ”, etc.), paintings and art ceramics with landscapes and genre sketches from the life of Finland (composition“ The Red House by the Sea ”, a series of works dedicated to the city of Kisko) Currently, the artist is enthusiastically working on a sculptural composition based on the ancient Tatar legend "Sak-Sok", which he considers to be the fundamental principle of the culture of his people. He is sure that in this legend there is a message to the people from the past: not to betray the love of a brother, father, mother, fight evil for the benefit of people… At the exhibition opened in the National Art Gallery of the Pushkin Museum of the RT, a series of painted tiles "The Legend of Sak-Sok" will be presented.
The works of Rafael Sayfullin express love for Finland, which has become a native land corner, and endless respect and love for the Tatar people.
The exhibition runs through August 11, 2019.
