In the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. V.P. Sukachev January 20, 2017 will open an exhibition of the works of the famous Irkutsk portrait painter Yuri Kvasov. The exhibition is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the artist and the 80th anniversary of the Irkutsk region.
In the gallery of Kvasov’s works are those who left a noticeable mark in the life of the city, region, country. In particular, playwright Alexander Vampilov, writer Valentin Rasputin, poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko - their portraits will be presented at the exhibition. Also in the exhibition you can see the artistic images of Vitaly Wenger, Lev Serikov, Sergey Snarsky, Lyudmila Ten, Denis Matsuev and others - only about 60 works created using the technique of painting and graphics for more than 45 years of creativity. We can safely say that Yuri Kvasov writes the annals of the Irkutsk region in person. At the opening will be attended by some of the portrayed. Works for the exhibition are provided from private collections, as well as from collections of museums and creative organizations. This is the series “Honorary Citizens of Irkutsk” from the Museum of the History of the City, “Irkutsk Writers and Dramatists” from the “Alexander Vampilov Cultural Center”, “Theater Actors” from the Irkutsk City Folk Drama Theater.
“Yuri Kvasov works a lot and fruitfully, easily overcoming genre-thematic and specific features of the genre,” notes art critic Tamara Dranitsa, “his modern portrait gallery is composed of historical, theatrical, chamber-psychological portraits, and, following the laws of time, representative, in moderation "Complementary" salon portraits. The most expressive, free from excessive literature are portraits of the creative and scientific intelligentsia of Irkutsk. ”
The exhibition will be located on the second floor of the main museum building at the address: Irkutsk, st. Lenin, 5. The opening will take place on January 20 at 15. 00, the entrance to the opening is free. You can see the "Portrait against the backdrop of time" until February 19, 2017.
