November 28, 2018 the company "Takeda" in conjunction with MGHPA them. S.G. Stroganova and the Ekaterina Culture Foundation will present the Breakthrough exhibition project. Laureates of the international creative competition among students of universities and art schools “Takeda. Art / Help. Breakthrough ”, as well as famous contemporary artists, will present their works as part of the large-scale integrated project“ Takeda. Pain and Will ”in support of the development of palliative care and new technologies in medicine. The exhibition will demonstrate how technology serves contemporary art, which, in turn, reveals the humanistic problems of our time. The curator of the project is art critic Mikhail Sidlin.
Andrey Potapov, CEO of Takeda Russia, head of the CIS region, commented on the idea of the exhibition: “The social and art project“ Takeda. Pain and Will ”was launched three years ago. Using the language of art, we talked about the importance of support and care for our patients; about overcoming oneself and circumstances; Today we are talking about new technologies and how they transform our lives. Advanced technologies open up new horizons in all areas of human life - in industry, communications, art and medicine. Thanks to the development of medicine, people began to live longer, some diseases are a thing of the past, we have learned to control a wide range of diseases - this is a breakthrough! ”
Project curator Mikhail Sidlin notes: “The mission of the project is Takeda. Pain and will ”consists in the development of palliative care and new technologies in medicine. And here it converges with the humanistic tasks of art. “Those who are truly committed to philosophy,” Socrates said, “are occupied, in essence, with only one thing — dying and dying.” Socrates’ attitude to a worthy end to life is supported by 21st-century medicine. Modern technology helps alleviate suffering. Art has a therapeutic function. And it turns to “eternal questions”, being at a new round of its development. 21st century art is impossible without extensive technological baggage, and 21st century technology without aesthetic fixation. The point of the complex art / technology balance is the breakthrough point. ”
About the exhibition
The theme of the 2018 exhibition - “Breakthrough” - reflects the state of the modern world. Half an century ago, the American philosopher Alvin Toffler wrote that we are breaking into a new era, and this leap can only be compared with the transition of man from the Stone Age to the world of the first civilizations. The exhibition will be presented on two floors of the Ekaterina Culture Foundation. On the ground floor, 60 works by participants of the international creative competition among students of higher educational institutions and art schools “Takeda. Art / Help. Breakthrough".
The exposition on the second floor of the Foundation will be opened by Sergey Mironenko’s canvas “New” (1990), which throws the bridge from “Moscow romantic conceptualism” to the era of new technologies. The most ambitious work at the exhibition will be the new installation of Olga and Oleg Tatarintsev, dedicated to the Russian geneticist Vladimir Efroimson, the first to describe the altruism gene. November 21, 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the scientist.
Most of the work will be created by contemporary artists specifically for the exhibition. The biomorphic object of Dmitry Kavarga from plastic and metal suggests that the world of cars is close and related to the world of people, and the author’s gadgets of Anastasia Alyokhina set a new direction for the technology of beauty industry.
Oleg Tyrkin’s triptych “A Head Without Borders” is a self-portrait of the artist and reflection on the essence of man. In the triptych of Aristarch Chernyshev “Critical update”, the main role is played by the “non-loading” self-portrait, made using the technology of texturing 3D objects invented by the author.
The poetic video of Victor Alimpiev develops the old genre of “consolation”. The sculpture of Grigory Orekhov combines the ancient symbol of the universe - the egg and the modernist symbol of the world axis - the "Endless Column" of Brancusi. Vitaly Pushnitsky’s painting is dedicated to the topic of expectation.
The picturesque triptych of Maxim Orlitsky “Cowgirl and Sheep” combines avant-garde fashion and cyberpunk. Maxim is the initiator of art battles in Moscow, that is, open public competitions of painters. During the opening day there will be a performance that will lead to the birth of new works of art.
