On November 19, in the main building of the museum (Lenina st., 5), the exhibition "Touch" by the classic of the Irkutsk school of painting Andrei Rubtsov, timed to coincide with the 95th anniversary of the master’s birth, begins its work. The exposition contains a retrospective of the artist’s career, from the early works of the 50s to the canvases written in the 2000s. Portraits, landscapes, still lifes - the artist’s special creative manner is equally recognizable in all genres.
An amazingly beautiful color - sometimes luminous, dramatically intense, sometimes darkly hidden, built on the finest overflows of shades of color - constitutes the basis of the artist’s imaginative world. Having completely devoted himself to art, Andrei Rubtsov remained a man of his generation - who went through many trials and who knows how to maintain courage in any life situations. The famine of the pre-war years, the arrest of his father, the war, which he had to go to as a boy, and the severe injury that threatened his dream of becoming an artist… He was deeply worried about the philosophy of human life - and he skillfully embodied this in his work.
The exposition contains more than 40 works from the museum collection and the private collection of the Victor Bronstein gallery.
Andrei Filippovich Rubtsov (1925–2016) is one of the most interesting masters of the Irkutsk school of painting. In 1952 he graduated from the Irkutsk Art School, in 1961 he joined the Union of Artists of the USSR and since that time has been a constant participant in regional, republican and foreign exhibitions. The master’s works occupy an honorable place in the museum collections of Irkutsk, Kemerovo, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Barnaul, Norilsk, as well as in private collections. Andrey Rubtsov’s awards include the Irkutsk Region Governor’s Prize for his great contribution to the development of art (2000) and the award sign of the Union of Artists of Russia “Spirituality. Tradition. Mastery "(2011).
