For the first time, the art gallery presents to the general public the work of the Perm icon-painting workshop “Dobro” at the Holy Trinity Stefan Monastery, as well as teachers and students of the icon-painting department of the Perm Theological Seminary.
Exhibition "Perm Icon. XXI Century ”will acquaint viewers with the modern art of icon painting, reviving interrupted canonical traditions, but at the same time mastering new areas of icon painting. This is, first of all, the creation of iconography of Saints of modern times, as well as copyright icons of ancient Saints, Holidays and Sacred Events of church history. The range of icon-painting styles is quite wide: the subtlest Athos writing, academic writing, strictly canonical Byzantine writing, etc. But with such a stylistic diversity, nevertheless, the main direction of the creative workshop is canonical.
In the exposition you can also see the most complicated process of creating icons: from the levitation of the board and the drawing of the icon image to the finished work.
The exhibition shows that icon painting, remaining canonical, is a living, time-varying art.
The exhibition runs until August 12, 2018. Audience 0+

The head of the workshop is Hierodeacon Alipiy (Kozhukhov). The workshop has its own carpentry workshop - for the manufacture of icon boards, carved iconostases and icon cases, church furniture (thrones, pulpits).
The icon-painting department of the Perm Theological Seminary was founded in 2005 to teach icon-painting, the basics of restoration, and other church disciplines. Students here master not only the technique of ancient writing, but also modern materials of icon painting, create author’s icons that meet today’s needs of the temples of Prikamye. The works of the Dobro workshop and the icon-painting department of the Perm Seminary are quite well-known both in the church and in the artistic environment, and constantly participate in various exhibitions and expositions.
