The exhibition will feature more than 70 works of printed graphics by leading teachers, students and graduates of the Department of Design, Faculty of Arts, St. Petersburg State University.
The history of the department began 15 years ago with the introduction of the program "Graphic Design" at the philological faculty of the university. Now the department is an integral part of the faculty of arts, the dean of which is the famous conductor, people’s artist of Russia, general director and art director of the Mariinsky Theater Valery Gergiev.
The program “Graphic Design” trains graphic designers of a wide profile, including specialists in creating projects for replicated graphic products, developing integrated graphic systems, web-design and multimedia design. The curriculum uses innovative developments of the teaching staff of the department, which includes recognized professionals in the field of graphic design. Among them are our fellow countrymen, graphic artists Vladimir Filipenko and Ramziya Zinnatova, who remained in St. Petersburg after graduating from the Academy of Arts. They do not break ties with their hometown and participate in various art projects in Kazan, including the Kazan International Biennale of Printed Graphics, they are the organizers of the exhibition presented to the attention of the Kazan audience.
The exhibition demonstrates the creative identities of teachers - Mikhail Gorodetsky, Tamara Lewandowska, Konstantin Startsev, Alexander Medvedev, Ekaterina Filipenko, the artistic ingenuity of students and recent graduates, unlimited freedom of choice of style and expressive means, the variety of printed graphics techniques that they master during their studies: classic incisors and etchings, dry needles, woodcuts, linocuts, silk screen printing, etc.
At the grand opening of the exhibition, Ramzia Shaydievna Zinnatova, senior teacher of the design department of St. Petersburg State University, will speak.
