From October 1 to December 4, 2021, the first in St. Petersburg personal exhibition of the Moscow sculptor Olga Muravina will be held in the Abramova Gallery space. The Light Forgetting exhibition presents sculptures and graphic works that have never been exhibited before.
The artist’s artistic world is woven from childhood memories, Soviet cartoons, mother’s experience, dreams and nature. Her characters - children, dolls, bears, owls, rhinos, dogs and other creatures are not subject to the bustle of the world by virtue of their nature - half animal, half childish. They are in a state of half-sleep, as if frozen on the border between sleep and wakefulness, like mediums in a state of insight.
The sculpture by Olga Muravina has a rare quality to please in everyday life. She appeals to the deep emotions of play, security, tactile communication with the world, while at the same time building an aesthetic distance in relation to these non-reflective and childish in essence energies that feed her creativity.
With all the variety of plots and forms, the main message of Olga’s creativity is an appeal to the inner child. This is an attempt to interact with the primordial essence of each person. To knock, to awaken, to give a chance to discover her in himself to every viewer who finds himself in the world of soulfulness, tenderness, receptivity, sensuality!
The exhibition presents both small bronze works and large-scale figures made of modern composite materials. One of them - the sculpture "Bear" - was installed in the courtyard of the DAA Design and Architecture Center.
