November 12 at the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (Lenin St., 104, the main exposition) An exhibition of one painting by Victor Kuzin, “Sunset on the Ugra”, dedicated to the end of the Great Standing on the Ugra River will begin work.
The artist Viktor Kuzin paints pictures in a realistic manner, in his works he tries to convey the natural beauty of nature. Most of the paintings are dedicated to the nature of the native land. In the artist’s homeland in the village of Ulyanovo in 2006, the Municipal Art Gallery of his name was opened, which was based on paintings donated by the author.
Victor Kuzin is a member of the Union of Artists, a participant in many art exhibitions of various ranks and plein airs. His paintings are in museums and art galleries in Kaluga and the region, Tula, Bryansk, Moscow and Vladimir regions. And also stored in private collections in Russia, the Near and Far abroad.
The exhibition presents the painting "Sunset on the Ugra." Summer evening. In the foreground is a river with the outlines of an already darkened wooded opposite bank. The sky still retains the reflections of sunset. The clouds have already acquired this gray shade, turning into lilac-lilac. The colors of the sky and the shadows of the opposite shore are reflected in the water.
According to Viktor Kuzin, an interesting and important task for the artist to have time to capture the changing moments and conditions of nature.
The painting depicts the Ugra River. From ancient times, Ugra was called the "Belt of the Virgin". It seemed to encircle Russian lands from the west and was the border of the Moscow principality in the 15th century. It was here that in 1480 the Great Standing on the Ugra River took place.
The Principality of Moscow refused to pay tribute to the Golden Horde. The Horde Khan Akhmat gathers a large army and goes on a military campaign. But the Tatars could only get to the mouth of the Ugra, where the Russian army blocked the passage to the other side. There were several unsuccessful attempts to force the river. However, each time the enemy was met by the Russian army. After that, having decided to wait for help from the troops of Prince Casimir the Fourth, Akhmat leaves for Luza. Negotiations between Ivan the Third, the commander of the Russian army and Akhmat did not lead to a positive result. Then the Russian troops retreat to Borovsk, where they occupy a more advantageous position for the future battle. Akhmat, who had been waiting for help for quite some time, soon realized that he would not receive the troops promised by Casimir. At the same time, he receives news that a huge detachment of Russians is entering the rear. These circumstances lead to the fact that Khan Akhmat gives an order to his army to retreat. It should be noted that none of the warring parties resorted to active actions in the course of standing on the Ugra River.
The great standing on the Ugra was of great historical significance for the Russian people, because it was it that marked the final deliverance of the Russian lands from the long reign of the Golden Horde, as well as gaining not only formal but also real independence.
This significant event is dedicated to the exhibition of one painting by Victor Kuzin, "Sunset on the Ugra."
