On February 7, an exhibition of one painting “M. S. Saryan“ Fruits ”” will begin to work at the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (104 Lenin St., south wing). To the 140th anniversary of the artist.
Martiros Sergeevich Saryan - one of the great artists of the twentieth century, an outstanding master of color. “Color is a true miracle! In combination with sunlight, it creates the inner content of the form, expresses the essence of universal existence, ”the artist exclaimed.
The art of M. S. Saryan is a complex fusion of traditionally Armenian, Russian and French stylistic concepts. Having absorbed and letting through the prism of his worldview the main achievements of classical and modern painting, the master created a unique artistic style, his own special style, a special world. Only great talents can step further and create “their own painting”, as Martiros Sergeyevich Saryan did.
The master’s canvases, written in rich colors, develop a new aesthetic perception, making it possible to understand that art is not just an imitation of reality: it requires freedom of imagination and abstraction, and the sunny yellow color becomes a faithful companion of his painting. Harmony of bright colors, rich palette, laconicism, oriental motifs - all these are characteristic features of M. S. Saryan and are distinguished by special means of expressiveness. The stylistic principles of the Armenian artist are based on the ratio of large planes of unmixed pure colors, creating a generalized characteristic of visually perceived forms and plastics of their movement.
The artist experiments a lot with the transmission of light through the depth and volume of the shadow. At the same time, he retains in his works simple natural forms. M.S.Saryan always considered nature to be his main teacher.
He is not an epigone - but a painter and revolutionary in art. The master’s paintings show the philosophy of flowers, stones, buffalos, the fantasy of the east, the riot of colors, the tragedy of time — this is not a copy of nature, it is a new world of M. S. Saryan. The master strove to create a full-blooded image in its material and volume integrity, in a peculiar painting, in which the characteristic color and line of form are concentrated. However, this is not a passive reproduction of what was seen, but the ability to transmit the inner essence of a real, developing in time and space of life, by the power of active imagination in one stopped frame.
The painting "Still Life. Fruit ”was written in 1915. Images of fruits are large colorful spots, a kind of coloristic signs depicted, reminiscent of their natural prototypes. The artist seeks to achieve expressiveness through an almost limitless generalization of color and simplification of form. On a blue dish, large southern fruits: pears, apples, etc. Pure, sonorous paints lay on the canvas in separate strokes, creating sparkling overflows of the color scheme, saturated with sunlight. Volume and depth are achieved thanks to contrasting blue shadows. A simple, uncomplicated composition is built by a harmonious combination of generalized, silhouette forms drawn in bright colors. There is a resounding coloristic decision. The green and yellow neighbors in the center, even though they contrast, but still do not argue, but create a color unity. The background is designed in a calmer, light - ocher color scheme, which maintains the cold tonality of the whole work.
The exhibition will run on March 8th.
